THE GUYANA Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) yesterday delivered on its promise to the four amateur boxers who participated in last month’s Firestorm boxing card at the Princess Hotel and Casino, Providence.
Quincy Boyce and Candacy Benjamin of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and Keron Griffith and Akesia Arokium of the Rose Hall Jammers gym were presented with hampers by the GBBC at a simple ceremony at the board’s Avenue of the Republic office.
Technical Director of the Guyana Boxing Association, Terrence Poole, thanked the GBBC and its president Peter Abdool for delivering on their promise, adding that the initiative will serve to motivate the young boxers.
“We want to thank the GBBC and the president very much for this. Boxers seeing things like these will be motivated to give of their best knowing that they have something in store for them after the bout,” Poole pointed out.
All the boxers expressed gratitude to the GBBC, noting that the hamper is most welcome, and they will use it to boost their preparation for future fights. Included in the basket were foodstuff and supplements.
