Judges for Bollywood segment of GT&T song competition are vastly experienced

WELL versed in the Indian culture, well educated and possessing a keen insight of Bollywood music is an apt description of the judges on the panel of the Bollywood segment of the GT&T Jingle and Song Competition. They are Joel Ghansham, who also sits on the panel of the English segment; Sherry-Ann Dyal, Aditya Persaud and Sookrane Boodhoo.

altGhansham is no stranger to this competition. He is a dance exponent, television host and cultural promoter. He has attained international status in the world of show business, and can rightly be termed a cultural ambassador for Guyana. This judge lived for many years in the United States, and holds a degree in Business Administration.
He began performing at public arenas from a very tender age, and later moved on to appearances on TV Asia and ITV, the West Indian Awards, and as far as venues in Europe, Asia, North and South America, and the Caribbean.
Now residing in Guyana, Ghansham has been lending his expertise in this field; one major way being his two-year consecutive appearances on the GT&T Jingle and Song Competition.
Popularly known as a former member of the Shakti Strings Band, Dyal has been intrigued by music since childhood, and has developed into a very talented singer. From 1996 to 1999, she was a part of the band which at that time was known as the Sheriff Deputies, and one of her band mates happened to have been Sean Bhola, a judge on the panel of the English segment.
She is considered a diverse artiste who has experience in both Indian and English music, singing English Oldies as a Sheriff Deputy.  Dyal has also been involved in theatrical productions, acting in plays such as ‘The love of Adiana and Syraha’ and ‘Baghban’.  Dyal starred in several television and radio commercials, and more recently made contributions towards a documentary compilation aimed at HIV/AIDS awareness.
Dyal held a hostess position at the Guyana Lottery Company for 17 years and now has a full-time job at the Ministry of Finance.  With her bubbly personality, this judge can bring food to the table in her search for someone versatile, incredibly talented, and able to captivate an audience with great stage performance.
Aditya Persaud, the Projects’ Research Officer at the Agriculture Ministry, has been a musician for almost 24 years, and has been involved in theatrical production for 16 years. He has done many Indian stage shows, performed at several musical shows in countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and St. Lucia, and has acted in local movies, most recently ‘Brown sugar too bitter for me’, which is scheduled to be released soon.
Persaud also possesses a good knowledge of Hindi, and considers this an asset, being a judge in this competition. Knowing the language and having a good understanding of the culture, he says, will bring fair judgment to the contestants. He noted that he brings a new taste to the table, as he is knowledgeable of many aspects of music, having familiarized himself with various instruments as a musician.
Sookrane Boodhoo, like Dyal, has also been singing for some time, since the age of 8 to be exact, and is enthusiastic about the GT&T Jingle and Song Competition. She is a member of the Hindu Dharmic Sabha, and has years of experience judging a song competition this organization hosts annually.
Together, these judges are hoping to find the next Guyana Star
