PPP garners positive response from budget outreaches

THE People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has commenced a series of budget outreach meetings across the country, following up from a similar set of engagements the party conducted prior to the crafting of the 2013 budget, the largest in our nation’s history, and undoubtedly the best so far as in reaching out to the needs of all classes and demographics in our country.

The response to these outreaches over the weekend has been positive. Persons of all backgrounds welcomed the measures in place. It is clear that the people of Guyana want development and progress to continue.
A PPP statement yesterday said this is even more necessary since our political opposition seems interested in having our people in a perennial state of confusion based on their misinformation campaign. In fact, even the opposition seems confused as they themselves are giving out conflicting information as highlighted by the statement of leader of the opposition David Granger, who is quoted as admitting that “there is a little bit for everyone” in the budget. Yet he goes on to add that he is not satisfied with the budget.
“Of significant interest also is an image on the folder of an opposition member budget presentation which depicts a scissors about to cut a Guyana 1000 dollar bill which was publicized. This leaves no doubt in our minds that the true intention of our opposition alliance of the AFC and APNU is to use their one-seat majority in a callous manner.
“Our series of meetings thus far have seen communities expressing support for the provisions contained in budget 2013 and frustration at the opposition posturing.
“This also follows public support of budget 2013 from private sector organisations across the country as well as other groups and agencies.
The party intends to continue these outreaches and wishes to make it clear that it will continue to fight for a better future for all Guyanese and will withstand the attacks by the opposition against our efforts, the statement concluded.
