Spare parts thief caught on camera jailed

PREVIOUSLY convicted offender Corwin Duff was, last Monday, sentenced to twelve months imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to simple larceny.
Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo imposed the custodial penalty on the 29-year-old convict after the facts of the case were narrated by Police Corporal Orin Joseph, prosecuting, at the New Amsterdam Court, in Berbice. The Prosecutor said, on February 25, the virtual complainant, Stephen Sankar, who manages a spare parts shop, secured his business place before retiring to the upper flat of the two-storey building.
However, the following morning, he observed that five steering wheels, valued $10,000 along with a high performance exhaust, which cost $24,000, were missing.
Sankar, subsequently, saw images of the thief committing the criminal act, on a surveillance camera, the Court heard.
