Guyana Cup Fever 2013 set for Easter Sunday

THE PORT MOURANT Turf Club, in collaboration with Jumbo Jet Auto Sales, stages the seventh annual Guyana Cup Fever 2013 Horserace Meet on Easter Sunday March, 31, at the Port Mourant Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice, with entries closing off on Monday, March 25. No late entries will be allowed.   All interested horse owners must pay 50% of their entry fees by the closing date for the event, whose feature race will be for class B and Lower horses over a distance of 1500 metres, with the winner riding away with G$2M.  
The second-place prize is G$1M, third place $500 000 and fourth prize $250,000, while the three-years-old West Indies-bred event which should include horses bred in Guyana and the Caribbean has a first-place prize of G$1.5M and will be contested over a distance of 1200 metres.
The second prize is $750 000, third $375 000 and fourth $187 500 and for the four-years-old event which will be contested over 1600 metres, the winner is G$1M, with the second-, third- and fourth-placed finishers receiving $500 000, $250 000 and $125 000 respectively.
The E and Lower event over 1200 metres carries a winner’s prize of $700 000, second place $350 000, third $175 000 and fourth $87 500 and for the three-years-old Guyana-bred event, over a distance of 1200 metres, a prize of $600 000 goes to the winner.
The second-place prize for this event is $300 000, third $150 000 and the fourth is $75 000, while for the G and Lower, the winner who completes the 1200 metres event, will gallop off with $500 000, the second prize $250 000, third prize $125 000 and the fourth prize $62 500.
The H and Lower winner gets $300 000, the top horse in the I and Lower takes home $250 000, while the first prize for the J, K, L and Lower is $200 000.
The organising committee informed that the racetrack is in excellent condition and a scorching day of racing is anticipated.
Over 100 of the leading racehorses have entered and their owners have been sparing no quarters as they get their horses into top shape to cash in on this lucrative meet with over $20M on offer.
Fans are encouraged to come out in their numbers and support this event which is to date being sponsored by Banks DIH, Imperial Manufacturers Guyana Limited, Kanhai’s Guyana Electrical Agency, Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire Insurance Company Limited, Spicy Dish and Yellow Mine.
