PEARL said she wished to remind the authorities that the law states that midnight is the cut-off point for music. Also, noise is a serious health issue and our very young children are exposed to this atrocity night after night. My health is affected and as citizens of this country we deserve peace and comfort in our homes.
In my opinion if this is the law then it is a stupid one. If the cut-off point for loud music is midnight, when is it supposed to start?
The law should read: all citizens who wish to play music must play their music for their pleasure and for them to hear only and not disturb the peace and quiet of others.
There are citizens who work different shifts so they rest and sleep at different hours.
There are elderly citizens who are in their homes at most times.
There are students studying and doing homework in their homes.
There are sick citizens recovering from illnesses in their homes.
There are mothers and fathers with babies who could not care less for loud music.
This lawlessness has been going on for far too long and it seems that the authorities are completely impotent to stop this nuisance.
It would appear as though business people rule the police.
All across Guyana citizens are crying out for help, but it seems the more they cry out for help the more they are punished by law- breakers and those in authority who turn a blind eye.
