Nothing uncovered on GEA employee Taljit, missing since December

POLICE have, since December 23, 2012, failed to locate Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) employee Levoy ‘Lee’ Taljit, who has been reported missing.

altEven after his car was found abandoned on the Soesdyke/Linden Highway, shortly after his disappearance, searches by the man’s relatives and friends have come up empty-handed.
His whereabouts remain a mystery, although the vehicle, minus its tape deck and battery, had been hidden amongst thick vegetation. Fingerprints taken from the recovered property have, moreover, not been helpful.
Taljit was last seen by members of his family when he left his Anira Street, Queenstown, Georgetown home that December day, and they have since not heard from him, despite calls to his mobile phone, which have gone unanswered.
The family is trying to ascertain what may have led to his mysterious disappearance, as they are not aware of him being involved in any unsavoury practices. They cite his lifestyle in suggesting he would not have attracted negativity from persons with whom he dealt.
This newspaper learnt that relatives have made some of their own inquiries about Taljit’s activities away from them. It was noted that, although he was a field supervisor empowered to effect property seizures, in keeping with his GEA job description, such action had to be approved by persons above his level.
He was not defaulting on payment for his vehicle, either, as those were up to date.

Taljit had left home driving his Toyota Raum, PNN 8315, to do some Christmas shopping, and has since not been seen or heard from. Persons who may have information regarding his present whereabouts have been asked to contact the nearest police station, or call telephone numbers 226-0433, 226-7336, or 666-4012.
