ENGLAND all-rounder Tim Bresnan will travel to the U.S. for surgery on a long-standing elbow problem.
Bresnan, who has struggled for form since initially suffering the injury in 2011, has been left out of England’s tour to New Zealand so that he has time to explore surgery options and return to full fitness ahead of back-to-back Ashes campaigns.
Despite surgery on his elbow over a year ago, the Yorkshire bowler has appeared down on pace when bowling in his recent England appearances.
Andrew Gale, Bresnan’s captain at Yorkshire, told the Telegraph and Argus: “He’s going out to America in the next week or so, and he’ll be there for a week or two to have an operation and then some rehab on his elbow.”
Yorkshire still believe there is a chance of Bresnan featuring on their pre-season tour of Barbados, but where England are concerned the next target for Bresnan will be the home series against New Zealand, which starts at the end of May.
