Remand prisoner faces other charges following marijuana bust

CLIVE Forde (no address given) was remanded to prison Friday on charges of robbery under arms and discharging a loaded firearm.

Before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, it was alleged that, on October 27, 2012, at William and Queen Streets, Kitty, Georgetown, with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm, he discharged a loaded firearm at Nicolas and Anthony Sancho and Aubrey Denny.
Another allegation against him is that he robbed Sherwin Duncan, at gunpoint, of a quantity of gold and diamond jewellery, valued a total of $1.4M, on December 20, 2012.
Forde is also accused of having, on December 22, 2012, discharged a loaded firearm at Sherwin Duncan with intent to maim, disfigure or cause him grievous bodily harm.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all the offences but Police Inspector Burgette Grant, prosecuting, said, on October 27, the three virtual complainants were standing on the street corner when Forde went up to them and brandished a gun.
The prosecutor said an argument ensued and the defendant fired several shots causing the virtual complainants to run away.
The prosecutor said, on December 20, the defendant was in company with two other men when he pointed a gun at Duncan and took away his gold and diamond jewels.
Again, on December 22, Forde saw Duncan and fired several shots in his direction but none caused injury, said the prosecutor, successfully objecting to bail, on the ground that, if granted, it is likely the defendant will not return for his trial.
Forde was remanded until February 15, but, as he was being escorted to the lock-ups, a search of his person yielded a quantity of cannabis (marijuana) for which the police said he is soon to be charged.
