Retired U.S. player is new CONCACAF Director of Development

MIAMI, United States (CMC) – A retired United States soccer player has been appointed Director of Development at CONCACAF.

Hugo Salcedo will lead efforts to raise the standard and profile of football in the wider region, a CONCACAF statement has said.
Salcedo has spent over thirty years in various executive positions with FIFA, United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and Major League Soccer (MLS).
“I trust my skills and vast expertise will contribute to the expansion and advancement of the sport within the CONCACAF region,” said Salcedo a former member of the U.S. Olympic and Pan American teams.
“It is a privilege to be an intrinsic part of a motivated team of professionals”.
Salcedo served as the FIFA Development Officer for CONCACAF region from 2001 to 2004 helping member associations implement FIFA Goal programmes.
He was appointed by FIFA as a venue General Coordinator for the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
“Development is at the core of CONCACAF’s priorities,” declared president Jeffrey Webb.
“We have invited Mr Salcedo to be a key player in the evolution of the development of football within our Confederation.”
