AS a continuation of an ongoing effort to enhance the environment of mining communities and to improve waste management, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment will commission an incinerator at Itaballi in Region Seven.
The construction of the incinerator resulted from a request made by residents following a community enhancement exercise at Itaballi where a quantity of garbage drums and other
support was provided such as the clearing of a temporary site for garbage disposal.
As such, Natural Resources and the Environment Minister, Robert Persaud and representatives from the Environmental Protection Agency, Guyana Geology and Mines Commission and other stakeholders will be present at the official commission of the incinerator. The initiative is part of the Pick-it-up-Guyana campaign which was launched to create environmental management awareness.
