Elections must be held without any intimidation

SOME bloggers on SN website are calling for a snap election to be held now.

For me I would say no to snap election. Why? I would allow the people of Guyana to see how brutal and cruel the PNC opposition is. Mind you as I have said many times there is no such thing as the AFC, since it’s PNC all the way.
But if a snap election were to be called, then it’s incumbent upon the PPP/C to ensure not only a free, fair and transparent election but free of intimidation too.
In the minds of many Guyanese something went terribly wrong when both the PPP/C and the PNC were on the night of the last election  calling for recounts which never happened.
On the very night of the last election, the ordinary Guyanese who cast their votes did not know the election results, but yet on that very night a blogger on SN posted a minority government.
This tells me that PNC knew on the night of the election that the PPP/C would have a minority government, thereby calling off the recount. The PPP/C said they called off the recount because of the PNC’s threats and intimidation.
Most Guyanese know the Guyana Police Force and the Guyana Defence Force allegiance is with the PNC so there will always be PNC intimidation at all elections.
I would now ask the PPP/C to ask for UN troops to be in Guyana at any and all elections to ensure elections are free of any intimidation be it by which ever political party.
Let the winner govern for the next five years and if it screws up, then the next five years go through the same process to allow the electorate to vote freely, fairly and transparently and intimidation-free.
