Loud music causes senior citizen to be bonded by court

FIFTY-two-year-old Doodnauth Sohadeo of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara allegedly played loud and continuous music to the annoyance of Nickesha Dennis; and, on the same day, used abusive language towards the virtual complainant, whereby a breach of the peace was occasioned. Sohadeo pleaded not guilty to all the charges, explaining to the court that in his view he finds it ironic that his immediate neighbours never complained to him about music being played too loud; and, as such, he finds it difficult to understand why his melodious air waves affect Mrs. Dennis, whose house is approximately 50 feet from his and not as close as those of the other neighbours.

But Mrs Dennis was present in court, and she stressed that she had been residing at Mon Repos for some time now, and had never previously had any problems with anyone; but, on the day in question, Sohadeo, who was imbibing with friends, was indeed playing his music set loudly, and when she attempted to have him turn it down, she was greeted with a series of ‘f’s and ‘S’s.
She then pleaded with Magistrate Moore to have the matter resolved soonest, since she did not want to be running to court repeatedly.

Sohadeo was then relieved of all charges, but was bonded to keep the peace.
