BACK Circle put forth a dominant performance against Bent Street to make their way in the quarterfinal of the Banks DIH-sponsored Guinness ‘Greatest of de Streets’ Futsal Competition which continued on Tuesday night with the final round of matches at the Banks DIH Car Park. The Back Circle Boys are joined by East Front Road, Sophia ‘B’ and Broad Street ‘B’ who also recorded wins on Tuesday night.
While four more exhibition games highlighted the night’s action the feature matches were greatly anticipated.
Back Circle hammered Bent Street 5-0 with Dexter Bentick leading the way with a double in the third and seventh minutes. He was supported by Wayne Wilson (16th), Vincent Thomas (17th) and Leon Murray (27th) who scored a goal each.
East Front Road squeezed past North Last Entrance 1-0 with Vashile Cantzlaar the scorer in the 31st minute.
Sophia ‘B’ cruised past Globe Yard 2-0 with their goals coming from Joshua Kamal (7th) and Akeem Jaikisoon (30th).
Wrapping up the night was the 5-2 win Broad Street B recorded over East La Penitence. Goals from the eventual victors were scored by Daniel Favorite (6th, 21st), Jimmy Gravesande (9th), Rocky Gravesande (17th) and Kevin Griffith (28th). Both of the opposition’s goals were scored by Devon Millington.
In the exhibition part of the tournament, YMCA trounced Banks DIH Ltd 3-0, Guinness Bar beat Oasis 3-0, Clippers Barber Shop crushed Quite Set Car Wash 7-0 and GT All Stars needled Upper Levels Barber Shop.
The quarter-final action begins on Saturday with four matches to be contested as well as four more matches in the exhibition tournament at the Banks DIH Car Park.
