KIM London, a security guard of Lot 1578 Cummings Park, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at Sparendam Court, East Coast Demerara, on Monday, to answer three charges. One charge alleged that, on Sunday, October 21, at ‘B’ Field, Sophia, she unlawfully wounded Shelly Bowman. The second said, on the same day, she made use of threatening language to Bowman and the third stated that she unlawfully assaulted Bowman.
The 41-year-old mother of five pleaded guilty to the unlawful wounding charge and not guilty to the others.
She told the court that she and Bowman are workmates attached to the same security service and there is an existing feud between their daughters that led to her confronting Bowman at her home and her place of work.
London said herself and the virtual complainant only had a ‘lil talking’ and she is surprised at being placed before the court for something of which she knows nothing.
However, Bowman, who was present in court contradicted London’s narrative, stating that the latter was the aggressor who indeed assaulted her.
After listening to what was said, Magistrate Moore granted London $20,000 bail on the unlawful wounding charge, $15,000 on the threatening language and $5,000 on the assault, then ordered the defendant to return on December 4.
