BACOLET, Tobago (CMC) – Former champions Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday qualified for the finals of the Caribbean Cup for the 17th time, the same number of times the tournament has been played.

Ataullah Guerra scored a minute after entering the match midway the second half to give the host country a 1-0 victory over Cuba in their group 8 semi-final match.
The eight-time champion topped the Group 8 standings with seven points, three better than Cuba, which also qualified — for a seventh straight time.
Both teams were assured of advancing earlier in the day when Suriname defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 1-0 on Ronny Aloema’s 42nd-minute penalty.
Suriname had already been eliminated, and its victory prohibited any chance of St Vincent surpassing either Cuba or Trinidad.
The results put Trinidad in Group A of the finals along with Haiti, the Dominican Republic and host Antigua & Barbuda next month.
Cuba will go into Group B with Martinique, Jamaica and French Guyana.
Trinidad’s victory was their fifth in six games against Cuba over the past five years and extended their unbeaten streak to six matches, having conceded only three goals in that span.
