A DRIVER attached to City Taxi Service narrowly escaped death and serious injury after another driver employed by Federal Management System Security Service attempted to make a U turn on Homestretch Avenue in Georgetown at noon yesterday.
Speaking to the Guyana Chronicle at the scene, the City Taxi employee, who was at the wheel of HB 1183 and gave his name as Raganand, said he was proceeding East along Homestretch Avenue at approximately 45 kilometres per hour when he saw PNN 427 parked in the corner.
However, as he was abut to pass the other vehicle, the driver tried to make a complete turn and, had he been travelling at a faster rate, the collision could have been worse. It occurred in front of Help and Shelter.
This newspaper was informed that the driver of the security car had earlier visited the location where security guards attached to FMS provide services.
Subsequently, the proprietor of City Taxi Service, Totoram Bharat said his vehicles, including the one which was involved in the accident, are covered by insurance.But the FMS employee was not willing to speak. He said only his employer would be able to talk about what occurred at the scene.
