Human Services Ministry, UNICEF to launch `TELL Campaign’ – aimed at empowering children to disclose any form of sexual violence

THE Ministry of Human Services & Social Security, in collaboration with UNICEF, will be launching its ‘TELL Campaign’ on Monday at the Regency Suites hotel on Hadfield Street at 10:00 hrs.

The TELL Campaign will empower children to disclose any form of sexual violence, according to an advisory from the ministry.  In 2010, the Sexual Offences Act was signed into law.
As a result, the Government of Guyana and UNICEF will embark on an aggressive campaign to educate the public and create awareness of the new offences and penalties under this law.  It will provide education designed to promote disclosure and prevention and to develop community based interpersonal communication activities, aimed at reducing children’s vulnerability to sexual violence.
The ministry said the ‘Tell Campaign’ will be followed by a LISTEN Project which will focus on Parenting Education.
