Roraima hosts feeding programme for underprivileged children : -in commemoration of its 20th anniversary

IN commemoration of its 20 years in the tourism, service and hospitality industry Roraima Group of Companies yesterday hosted a feeding programme for less fortunate children from several orphanages. altThis was undertaken at Roraima’s Duke Lodge, Kingston and in addition children enjoyed several different interactive sessions which included face painting done by Bravo Arts and pep talks on the value of life and the importance of education..
In addition, the children were given the opportunity to have aerial tours sponsored by Roraima Inc.
Marketing Manager Shamain Davis who spoke with this newspaper highlighted that the aim for this 20th anniversary is to give back to the staff, customers, and Guyana at large.
“We have a schedule of activities that we set out for the month; we had discounts on our hotel rooms and so on…so today what we are doing is feeding some children from the orphanage we have the Shaheed Boys Orphanage and we have children from the Mahaica children’s home so we have a nice group and a good mixture in age groups, “she stated.
In addition, she said that the as part of the celebrations there will be a children’s fun day at Santa Mission, a cleanup campaign and a movie night among several other planned activities .
Approximately 20 children participated in yesterday’s activities. Owner of the group of companies along with other senior staff took time out to educate and make the children aware that education is the key to success.
altThe month of activities started at the beginning of this month and includes significant discounts on hotel, restaurant and bar services, a special price for an aerial tour of the city, an interfaith thanksgiving service, brunches for children, distribution of garbage bins around the city, contests, a movie night at Santa Mission, a staff funday, an appreciation dinner for loyal customers and more.

The Roraima Group was Co-founded by Captain Gerald and Debbie Gouveia, both of whom are experienced transport rated pilots. Captain Debbie is a graduate of Flight Safety Academy in Vero Beach, Florida, while Captain Gerald graduated from the Embry Riddle Aeronautical University.
He continued his education at the George Washington University in Virginia and the National Defense University in DC.
