Another company reports good results from gold exploration

GOLD Port Resources Ltd, another Canadian Company exploring for the mineral in Region Seven (Cuyuni/Mazaruni), has announced that it has found significant values from a recently completed geoprobe drilling programme in its Groete Creek Gold and Copper Project.

In a recent release, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Adrian F.C. Hobkirk said the deposit, as defined through prior drilling by Coeur d’Alene Mines and recently by the company, features a shear hosted gold copper zone running approximately 1,200 metres East to West and about 250 metres North South.
The deposit is open to the North and the East and, possibly, the West, located close to Bartica and has deep water access, land access is by dirt road from Manaka, directly to the project area, the release said.
Hobkirk said the company had conducted a geoprobe deep soil drilling that being a track mounted drill to define the near surface gold zone.
He said a total of 52 holes have been completed, to date, in the Groete Creek Gold and Copper Project and the company was reporting results for the final 23 holes of the programme.
Of the 23 completed holes, 11 have gold values greater than 0.5 grammes per tonne and all encountered an average grade of 0.1 gramme per tonne gold or higher, Hobkirk reported.
He said the lower detection limit was 0.01 parts per million gold and the upper detection limit was 3.0 grammes per tonne.
Hobkirk said overall results confirmed the location of a significant surface gold zone running East of the last known historical drill hole and remaining open to the East.
That zone will be the target of future core drilling by the company, he said.
Groete Creek Gold and Copper Project is located in the Cuyuni Mining District.
