Murder of Ricardo Rodrigues… Mark De Abreu surrenders to police -is assisting with investigations

WANTED for questioning in relation to the murder of Ricardo Rodrigues, committed at the GMRC Compound at Albert Street, Georgetown on October 15, 2012, Mark De Abreu yesterday turned himself in to police custody, accompanied by his lawyer, Mark Waldron.

altHe is currently assisting with the investigations. Police had issued a wanted bulletin for him on October 24.
Ricardo Rodrigues was riddled with bullets as he sat at a table in the “Pit Stop” eatery in the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC)  compound on Albert Street, at around 15:00 hrs on October 15. His body bore wounds to the head, chest, hands and leg inflicted by a high-powered weapon. From all indications he died immediately after sustaining injuries.
Three other persons who were at the club at the time were injured as the gunmen sprayed bullets indiscriminately.

Those injured were Aubrey Henry, 35, of Alberttown, who was shot in both legs; Michael Hopkinson, 42, hit on his right arm and right foot; and Canadian Jean Le Blanc, who was shot in his right hip, and later succumbed at the GPHC.
They received medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Police have disclosed recovering several spent shells from the scene.
No motive has as yet been established for the killing, but investigators are probing whether it is linked to the recent arms and ammunition find at Lethem.
Rodrigues had been released on $100,000 bail after spending a night in police custody pending investigations into the discovery of three M-70 and four M-16 assault rifles, along with a grenade and radio communication equipment.
Eyewitnesses recalled seeing two men dressed in black firing automatic weapons at Rodrigues.
