A MAN, who, allegedly, hit his reputed wife with a ‘pointer broom’, appeared in court yesterday, on an assault charge.
Roy Roach, of Lot 14 Cummings Park, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, pleaded not guilty and was granted $30,000 bail. Particulars of the offence, as read by Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, said the defendant unlawfully assaulted Michelle Robinson on October 24.
According to Police Sergeant Winneth Hubbard, prosecuting, the defendant and virtual complainant had an argument and he took the broom and lashed the woman on her back.
The prosecutor said Robinson reported the incident but, in court, the latter said she does not want to proceed with the case. All she wants is for Roach to remove from her home and end the relationship.
However, the magistrate advised Robinson to apply for a protection order. Meantime, Roach has to be back in court on November 30.
