THE employees of Medicare Pharmacy, in Hinck Street, Georgetown, observed Breast Cancer Awareness Day yesterday, by donning pink and white jerseys with the logo on it.
The effort was to sensitise others that October is designated Breast Cancer Awareness Month, in which a series of activities were planned under the theme ‘Early detection helps save lives.’
The importance and need for more education and awareness programmes in the fight against breast cancer, at the community level in society, was underscored when the Avon Community Help Fund, in collaboration with the Breast Cancer Awareness Committee announced, earlier this month, the commencement of the seventh Annual Avon Breast Cancer Awareness programme for October 2012.
Throughout this month, everyone is urged to wear the pink ribbon as a symbol of commitment to raising awareness to breast cancer and show support to patients diagnosed with the disease.
