Movement of Belgrave file encounters another snag

DEPUTY Commissioner of Police (Law Enforcement) Seelall Persaud disclosed, yesterday, that movement of the file on the Dameon Belgrave October 5 fatal shooting has encountered another snag.

altThe documentation, which should be forwarded to Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Shalimar Ali-Hack, is still with Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority, Justice Cecil Kennard.
That is so, because the Government Pathologist, Dr. Vivekanand Bridgemohan has not yet completed the post mortem report on which Justice Kennard is to proceed with his assessment.
Crime Chief Persaud said: “The pathologist has, so far, failed to deliver the post mortem report and said it would take him a week to compile because he cannot retain secretaries.”
Persaud said, apparently, Dr. Bridgemohan has a problem retaining secretaries, who would quit the job after a while and then they have to be replaced.
Meanwhile, the three policemen implicated in the killing of Belgrave, near the White Castle Fish Shop at Hadfield and John Streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, the night before his birthday, are still under close arrest after the police were allowed, by the DPP, to detain them for further than the 72 hours period.

Belgrave was shot and killed by police who were pursuing occupants in a suspicious motorcar on October 5, about 21:30hrs.
The deceased, 21, of Middle Street, Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara, was standing on the roadway when he was fatally wounded and pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Belgrave would have celebrated his 22nd birthday on Saturday, October 6, and was having a pre-birthday drink with friends when he was killed.
