ACTING Chief Justice Ian Chang, S.C. yesterday ordered six defendants, charged with drug offences and larceny, to lodge a total of $1,350,000 pre-trial surety.
They had been refused bail by magistrates and were on remand in prison.
Three of them were accused of being in possession of narcotics and the others were facing charges for break and enter and larceny and larceny by clerk or servant.
Marlon Sansculotte and Nicholas Burnette, who are facing narcotics possession charges must find $300,000 and $175,000, respectively, while Alista David has to get $100,000.
Larceny defendant Francisco Parag, who was allowed $600,000 bail by a magistrate had the sum reduced to $250,000; Osman Ally could get his freedom for $25,000 pending his trial for break and enter and larceny and Deroop Sugrim, who has appealed a conviction for larceny, has to post $500,000 surety.
