Berbice Court hears… Wounding followed woman calling other’s meal dog food

FORTY-YEAR-OLD Mark Perreira, of Lot 115 New Street, Cumberland, Canje, was refused bail and remanded to prison on Monday, charged indictably with inflicting grievous bodily harm.

Before Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo, in New Amsterdam Court, the accused was alleged to have committed the offence on September 25.
Police said around 09:00 hrs, the virtual complainant, Angela Isaacs and Perreira’s reputed wife had an argument after the latter referred to the victim’s lunch as dog food.
When Perreira arrived home and met the woman in tears, he armed himself with a cutlass, went over to his neighbour’s house and broadsided Isaacs, who is three months pregnant.
A report was made at Reliance Police Station, Canje, also in Berbice, where ranks advised the wounded woman to seek medical attention, the court was informed and the case will be called, again, for report and fixture, on October 10.
