Auto sales director on $120,000 bail -for attempting to obstruct course of justice

RAMEEZ Mohamed, 24, of Lot 174 Happy Acres, East Coast Demerara, a director of BM Soat auto sales business, appeared yesterday before Georgetown Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on a charge of attempting to obstruct the course of justice.
He was not required to plead to the indictable charge. Particulars of which stated that on August 23, at Georgetown, he willfully attempted to obstruct the course of justice in that he contacted Mohammed Ali and offered to cover all his expenses if he withheld certain information from the police as to how he received motor vehicle GJJ 9390, the said vehicle being under investigation.
Defence Counsel, Mr. Glenn Hanoman, represented the accused, and requested bail. He informed the court that the accused worked as a director in the family business, and he wished not to get into the details of the matter.
The prosecution did not object to bail, and Mohamed’s bail was set at $120,000.
The matter has been set for recall on October 4.
