JAMZONE 2012 activities were simply off the hook! –doubtlessly unforgettable

THOUSANDS of Guyanese turned out in support of this year’s Hits and Jams-sponsored entertainment event, which featured several different segments hosted at countrywide locations. Following three previous events of Jamzone 2k12,  Chutney Night Super Concert, Kids Zone, and Miss Jamzone 2012 Regional and International pageant, a number of popular artistes from within the Caribbean and the US touched down last Friday in Guyana to make their debut to Guyanese fans.

Regional Night, featuring Bounty Killer, Konshens, Baby Sham ….
The National Stadium was jammed packed that Friday night, not only with Guyanese, but with persons from all over the Caribbean and the world, who flew in just to participate in Guyana’s most exuberant annual summer jam.
Taking the stage first to open the Regional Night activities was Guyana’s very own local icon, Jory Hector, for whom the audience was loud in cheers, singing along to his songs during his performance.

Jory commenced his routine with his usually excitable punch line — Ah De Real Thing, sending the audience wild in anticipation of what was in store.
He performed some of his most popular songs, which included “Down Deh”, “Blackberry”, “Let It Guh Suh” and his very famous “Mr Limpy J”.

Immediately after Jory came Jamaica’s very own Baby Cham. He took the crowd a couple years back with several of his classics, which included “Ghetto Story”, “Many Many”, “Strange Things”, and “Tun Up”.
Cham, who spoke of a surprise earlier in his performance, later revealed to the fans his wife Ophelia, who accompanied him on stage; and together they sang “Tun Up” and “Wine.”
Konshens was next to take the stage, and he rocked the National Stadium with his latest song, “Gal a bubble”.
Fans danced and sang along to other songs, including “Do Sumn”, “Good Girl Gone Bad”, “A So Mi Tan”, and “Hot
Patty”.
Later, Warlord, also known as the Five Star General, but most commonly known as Bounty Killer, headlined the concert; and though he took the dancehall merriment down a notch, his fans truly enjoyed his performance.

Some of the songs he preformed included “Bullet Proof Skin”, “Benz and Bimmer”, “Get Gyal Everyday”, “Dangerously” and “Want War”, to name a few.
Bounty Killer was also honoured by the Hits & Jams Entertainment Group, becoming recipient of the third Jamzone Lifetime Achievement Award. This award was presented to The Warlord by Jory Hector on behalf of the HJ Group.
Though Mavado was missed, fans did not show signs or uttered comments of dissatisfaction, because they were compensated for his no-show by the excellent performances of those very gifted Jamaican dancehall artistes and Guyana’s very own dancehall sensation, Jory.

International Night, featuring “Rick Ross”, Spice ….
Rapper Rick “Rozay” Ross took the stage on Saturday evening for the Jamzone International Night at Guyana’s National Stadium.
As was promised, Ross delivered nothing below fans’ expectations.
The show also featured Macka Diamond, Spice, and Elephant Man, along with a few local artistes. At a press conference on Friday, the rapper indicated that he was ready to perform before his Guyanese fans, apologising for ditching them
back in April, but disclosing that that cancellation was beyond his control.
Macka Diamond expressed her excitement to be in Guyana and to be performing alongside Ross.
She encouraged her fans to come out in their numbers and be a part of the show, which was expected to create heat waves.

Beach Jam at Slashmins Fun Park
Jamzone Summer Break 2K12 closed off on Sunday evening with a Beach Jam at Splashmins Fun Park on the Linden Highway.
Following a day of full excitement, the evening proceeding saw performances from Jory, Jackie Hanover, Adrian and Jomo X2, X Factor, Brandon Harding and several other local artistes, who rocked the crowed with their lively vibes.
