PYARG Silver Expedition grateful for Region 7 RDC support –ongoing Linden unrest caused diversion of route

OVER 100 Silver participants of the President Youth Award Republic of Guyana (PYARG) concluded their expedition in Bartica over the weekend, and received full support from the Regional Democratic Council and Regional Chairman of Region 7. Regional Chairman, Mr. Gordon Bradford, who was at the Bartica Ferry Stelling to welcome the expedition team, gave them a brief presentation on the community, as his administration assisted in transporting the team to Winiperu, where the expedition commenced.
The team was given a support vehicle, and was assisted with water throughout the successfully-concluded expedition.
Idi Wilson, a coordinating staff from the PYARG, indicated that the expedition would have begun normally at Winiperu, after the participants travelled through Linden to Rockstone; but they had to divert from that route because of the ongoing unrest in Linden. This, he noted, was to ensure safety of the participants.
“We were very grateful for the support given by the chairman and administration of the Region 7 RDC,” he disclosed.
The PYARG will conduct the Gold Expedition in a few days, and this will see another 100 participants heading to Kaieteur Falls to complete this category of the programme.
