Architects of Linden catastrophe are happy

I do not believe that all of the architects of the Linden catastrophe are happy over the current escalation of events. The recent intervention by residents to detain suspected arsonists reveals that many are against the criminal activities being committed. Opposition elements are accusing the government of neglecting Linden. Any conscientious Guyanese who knows the history of Linden will dispute this.
The truth cannot be ignored: since the Demerara Bauxite Company (DEMBA) closed down its operations, Linden had started to decay.
There should be no denial that Linden’s recovery process began when the PPP/C took the reins of government.
The protests against the electricity issue should have ended when the government decided to put on hold the increased tariff.
It is quite obvious that some elements of the opposition are exploiting the protest for their own selfish reasons.
A few misguided residents and opposition elements keep demanding that President Ramotar should visit Linden and talk to the people.
Mr. Ramotar has indicated that he will visit Linden as soon as the burning and blockading of roadways come to an end.
Why is the Opposition Leader refusing to call on the extremists to put an end to their unlawful behaviour? It could only mean that they are enjoying what is taking place. But sooner or later the people who suffered will realise that they were used by a few opposition elements for their own selfish gains.
I pray that the people of Linden would soon find peace and know their friends and enemies.
