PLAISANCE resident, Troy Collimore was on Friday remanded to prison until September 12 by Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on the indictable charge of murder, for which he was not required to plead. Collimore, of Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, is the main suspect in the Emancipation Day (August 1) stabbing of 20-year-old plantain chip vendor, Jermaine Simon, who died the following day at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
The deceased, of South Better Hope, East Coast Demerara, was allegedly stabbed with an ice pick on Emancipation Day while he and his elder brother, Shermin Simon, were walking along America Street sometime around 22:00hrs.
Simon and the suspect are believed to have had an ongoing feud over name- calling, which had resulted in their fighting several times in the past.
