Time for all to act as parliamentarians not campaigning politicians.

LINDEN is a wake-up call to those who think strong rhetoric and charges will not provoke violent responses. The opposition needs to change their present focus of making the government impotent to making it better and more accountable. The current focus of demonising the government and making it look illegal, unfair and corrupt, tend to incite some people. Time to do what is best for the people of Guyana. This would better help solve problems and enact projects and policies that would bring more jobs and services to the Guyanese people.
The AFC seems to be more focused on destroying the PPP/C power than influencing it. On the other hand, the APNU is caught between the AFC animosity to the PPP/C and some APNU members. There are some other APNU members who would try to compromise where possible with the PPP/C through negotiations for better governance. This last group may have tried to agree to the Linden electricity tariff increase, before the AFC and others objected. The opposition have a right to seek answers about projects, but this must be done in the right manner and place to verify there is nothing illegal or detrimental to Guyana, not only seek to prove how corrupt the government is. Evidence must be the sole proof.

The sane and patriotic members in the AFC and APNU must fight to move both parties individually or jointly to support or modify government polices and not just reject them. They must be prepared to offer valid alternatives to PPP/C policies, while opposing others with valid arguments against those policies that they will not support. All of this must be done using parliamentary and constitutional laws, and not some form of grandstanding. It is time for all to act as parliamentarians, not campaigning politicians.
