RICHARD Barrow, of Smythfield, New Amsterdam, Berbice, was shot and injured by police who were in the process of arresting him on Thursday, July 19. Police said he was wanted for questioning in relation to a series of armed robberies and escape from lawful custody.
The shooting took place about 07:30 hrs and Barrow, who suffered injuries to his left arm, is under guard at New Amsterdam Hospital.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, another man was arrested and is in detention after police found an unlicensed 12-gauge shotgun in a motor car, of which he was an occupant, on Thursday, too.
That happened about 16:00 hrs when police stopped and searched the vehicle at a Fort Wellington, West Coast Berbice roadblock.
The detained suspect will be charged shortly, the police said.
