ALLIANCE for Change (AFC), Councillor Naithram, of the Region 2 (Pomeroon/Supenaam) Regional Democratic Council (RDC) wants an investigation into businesses that are manufacturing hollow concrete blocks. He called for it at the RDC meeting yesterday, stating that Guyana National Bureau of Standards (GNBS) should investigate the manufacturers on Essequibo Coast, because the blocks that are sold to the public are of very inferior quality.
Naithram told councillors that some of the makers are using one sack of cement to make 50 or 60 hollow blocks instead of 35.
According to him, the blocks are very weak due to the mixture having more sand and less cement and, in the end; those who buy them are robbed.
