Guyanese schools record second round victories

TWO schools representing Guyana in this year’s Sir Garfield Sobers Invitational School tournament yesterday recorded victories in their second-round matches in Barbados.
Below are the scores, while the third school Central High received a second-round bye:
New Amsterdam beat Pinelands by 98 runs. New Amsterdam 227-3 (36 overs) (Leon Andrews 58, Hakeem Hinds 56 not out, Derick Narine 45, Martin Singh 35; Levi Cadogan 2-49).
Pinelands 129 all out (33 overs) (Marlon Howard 38, Brandon Weekes 14, Levi Cadogan 13, Shawnico Kellman 12 not out, Zachary McCaskie 12; David Latchaya 3-17, Derick Narine 2-16, Leon Andrews 2-21, Kevin Pellow 2-24).
Queen’s College beat Electra’s Institute on a faster scoring rate. Target reduced to 195 off 32 overs.
Electra’s Institute 243-8 (40 overs) (Mark Rhobe 114, Gravon Charles 41, Kevin Plant 30, Andrew Muraj 22; Ricardo Small-Boyce 4-63, Jerome Stuart 2-38).
Queen’s College 181-3 (27 overs) (Craig St Hill 41, Kevon Clarke 33 not out, Craigg Holder 30, Ricardo Small-Boyce 27, Jerome Stuart 25 not out; Tariq Dharanilall 2-29).
