Self-inflicted wounds

WHATEVER may be the disagreements between PPP party officials, the expressed disquiet about Mr. Ramkarran being privy to any executive committee meetings discourse due to his comments on corruption is blatantly absurd. What is there to hide? Is it not the President that is calling for help in fighting corruption? At a time when we need the PPP/C to focus on how to run the government amidst opposition charges and demands, things like these are counter-productive.
This situation immediately raises questions as to what is being discussed that may be so bad if Mr. Ramkarran should disclose it? These actions tend to cause the party self-inflicted wounds, giving fuel to suspicions and complaints of corruption.
The President needs to step in and stop these things from happening. It is time for one voice and message to avoid confusion and provide clear and full information, regardless as to whether it makes the government look bad or not. Guyana needs leaders willing to investigate and refute charges, or admit mistakes and correct them. Corruption and incompetence should be exposed and, where possible, punished.
