Man threatens to push knife in child mother’s belly and stir it up!

– gets six weeks imprisonment
MAGISTRATE Hazel Octive-Hamilton on Friday sentenced Morris Cox (no address given) to six weeks’ imprisonment after he threatened to push a knife in his child mother’s abdomen and stir it up.
Cox pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that, on June 27, he made use of threatening language to Sade Barry.
Police Corporal Denise Booker, prosecuting, informed the court that the defendant and the virtual complainant shared a relationship and have one child, but are now separated.
On the day in question, the defendant went to Barry’s home to see his daughter and an argument developed, during which he threatened to push a knife into Barry and stir it up. Fearful for her life, Barry reported the matter at the East La Penitence Police Station; and when the defendant was arrested, he told police that he only threatened to bounce Barry’s head against a wall.
Given the opportunity to state his story, Cox told the court that he never threatened to push a knife and stir it up in his child mother’s belly. He only threatened to ‘bounce’ her head against a wall.
Present in court, Barry said this is not the first time Cox had threatened her. She explained that the constant torment caused her to break off the relationship, but the defendant continues to torment her.
Prosecutor Booker requested the court to deal with the defendant accordingly, in light of the current domestic violence matters and the killing of women living with abusive partners. Accordingly, the court sent the defendant a strong message.
