LAST Friday evening, the referees from the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) red-carded the members of the Media and Republic Bank dominoes teams in a friendly goodwill tournament at the Republic Bank’s Sports Club. In what was described as a bridge-building exercise between three competing teams, GFRC Public Relations Officer Dion Inniss expressed thanks to the Republic Bank Sports committee for allowing this interaction and signalling the continuation for more such events from his organisation and the Media team.
Treasurer of the Republic Bank Sports Committee, Denicie Dunbar, in her short presentation thanked the teams for their participation in the goodwill tournament, as she congratulated the victorious GFRC for the victory over the other teams.
Former Sports Coordinator of Republic Bank, Troy Peters, who led the media contingent, congratulated the referees, the media and the bankers for their participation in the tournament, saying the gesture was fitting for the creation of new partnership in sports.
The referees amassed 83 games, with Dwayne Lovell chalking up the maximum 18 games, which saw him being adjudged the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the first encounter, with freelance sports reporter Mark Bradford, Troy Peters and Esuan Griffith all marking 16 games for the Media lineup, while Jerold Persaud led Republic Bank with 17 games.
