MANY institutions have been improved tremendously, especially the Psychiatric Hospital at Canje, Berbice. However, more can be done in that institution’s compound. The patients there need more than tablets and sleep. They need activities that can take their minds off their problems. They need people with compassion to attend to them. They need thorough physical examinations by dentists, eye specialists, etc.
We should all help where the need is greater. Mental patients have great needs. They need special attention in order to heal. Our many charitable organisations should reach out to these hopeless, hapless and helpless patients.
