THE sixth Annual ‘Guyana Cup’ horse race event, organised by horse racing enthusiast, Nasrudeen Mohamed of Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Jumbo Jet Stables, in collaboration with Kris Jagdeo’s Stables and Romell Jagroop will take place at the Port Mourant race track on August 26. Insurance service provider Hand-in-Hand Mutual Fire and Life Insurance Company has once again thrown its support behind this event.
Yesterday, a cheque with an undisclosed amount was presented to the Organising Secretary of the ‘Guyana Cup’, Compton Sancho, by Hand-in-Hand’s Marketing Coordinator, Mrs Andrea Jodhan-Khan at the Company’s head office.
In receiving the cheque, Sancho relayed the Organising Committee’s gratitude to Hand-in-Hand for always coming to the rescue of sports in Guyana, especially as it relates to the horse racing fraternity.
In response, Jodhan-Khan said Hand-in-Hand was proud to be a sponsor of this mega event which is regarded as the “largest horse race ever in Guyana’s history” in which over $30M in cash prizes and trophies are up for grabs and over 10 000 persons are expected to attend.
