GWI embarks on radio programme to boost customer service, public relations

…broadcast to address billing and revenue queries from customers
GUYANA Water Incorporated, GWI, the nation’s supplier of water and sanitation services, has embarked on a radio programme, titled “GWI’s The Flow”, to enhance its customer service and public relations. The programme will be broadcast every Sunday from 19:30hrs on the Voice of Guyana 102.5 FM or 560 AM.
The premiere episode will commence this Sunday. Popular broadcaster Keane McRae will provide a variety of family-themed music and entertainment as well as vital customer service updates regarding all the services provided by the water utility.
According to Public Relations Officer, Timothy Austin, the broadcast is also designed to answer questions and queries from customers. “We are inviting customers to post any questions regarding GWI’s services, particularly those related to their water service charges and billing,” stated Austin. “These questions will be answered on the broadcast every week by GWI officials. We are aware that customers continue to have numerous queries about their service charges, as well as burning issues such as the pensioner’s subsidy for water paid by the government. We urge customers to post on our social media fan page or e-mail our Public Relations Department with their queries.”
The PRO further stated that customers will be given the opportunity to call in and have their questions answered live on air in broadcasts following the launch on Sunday. “This is an ideal platform for customers to have their issues related to GWI resolved,” stated Austin. “With our current countrywide disconnection campaign ongoing, our social media page, television broadcast and community outreach programmes have been successful in addressing the concerns of our customers; however the radio broadcast will serve to enhance our overall customer care and public relations programmes by directly answering the questions sent by our customers.”
“We felt that the inclusion of entertainment and music was absolutely necessary since the programme also seeks to educate the younger generation about the conservation of water,” stated the PRO.
“Each week we will dedicate a portion of the broadcast to advice on how to manage the consumption of water in the home as well as environmental conservation, with a particular focus on preserving freshwater resources.  Our National School Education Programme has yielded encouraging results and we have seen an increased awareness of the need to conserve water among school-aged children; our hope is that the combination of music, entertainment and conservation education will significantly enhance the company’s ability to create behavioural change among children and young adults.”
GWI’s Chief Executive, Nigel Niles, is the programme’s first scheduled guest, and he will reflect on the company’s tenth anniversary celebrations as well as answer any questions or queries posted by customers via the company’s social media page.
Customers can post their questions and queries for the radio broadcast via GWI’s Facebook fan-page available at www.facebook.com/everydropcountsgy; alternatively customers can send questions via e-mail to pro@gwi.gy
“GWI’s The Flow” is the latest addition to the company’s public relations initiatives which include the “Community Connect” outreach programme, “H20 Kidz ‘n’ Action” school workshops and weekly television broadcast, “GWI’s Customer Alert”.
