ANOTHER man charged with assaulting his spouse was remanded to prison yesterday by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton. Amir Khan, who pleaded not guilty, was denied bail after having been previously convicted of a similar offence.
The charge yesterday said, on June 6, he unlawfully assaulted his reputed wife, Nikita Edwards.
Police Corporal Simone Payne, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for Khan on the grounds of prevalence and seriousness of the offence.
The prosecutor informed the court that the defendant had served two weeks imprisonment for assaulting the same woman.
Khan has to be back in court on June 18.
