CABINET has approved the request by EZjet GT Inc. to operate a non-scheduled two flights weekly service on the Georgetown/ Toronto route, Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon reported yesterday. Speaking at his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the President, Shiv Chandarpal Drive, Georgetown, Luncheon said this would be for the period June 15, 2012 to June 14, 2013.
“This approval introduces an element of competition on the Georgetown/ Toronto route, which right now is serviced exclusively by Caribbean Airlines,” he pointed out. EZjet would be using a B767 aircraft. It has been approved and is operating non-scheduled flights five times weekly between New York and Georgetown.
Last December, Cabinet approved the public charter programme operated by EZjet Air Services of Guyana and Florida. The United States Department of Transportation also approved the EZjet charter programme, as PC 11-188.
EZjet began its B767 wide body flights on the evening of December 15, 2011, providing Guyana passengers from and to New York with spacious seating, a generous baggage allowance, and a complimentary in-flight meal and beverages.
Flights operate six days each week, except Wednesday, departing New York’s JFK airport at 20:45 hrs and arriving Georgetown at 05:15hrs, then departing Georgetown at 06:30hrs, arriving New York JFK at 10:30hrs.
The operating airline is Dynamic Airways of the US, whose parent, Dynamic Aviation, operates more than 100 aircraft and has been providing air services around the world for the past 75 years.
EZjet stands by its motto “We’ve made it even better for you!’ as its commitment to providing an excellent and dignified service to its Guyana passengers.
