A DYNAMIC team of hikers from the Caribbean Hiking Adventures of Trinidad & Tobago arrived in Guyana yesterday to begin a four-day trek to the majestic Kaieteur Falls, a trip facilitated by local tour operator, Rainforest Tours.
The team comprises Richard Lewis (leader), Rhonda Beckles-Lewis, Adrian Rush, Nicola Mark and Felix Lamy, all of whom were formerly of Hikers Inc. and are all seasoned hikers. They are referred to as ‘The A Team’.
Caribbean Hiking Adventures is a new name, but with the same old, familiar, safe, comforting, assuring and reliable faces.
This team’s primary importance and focus has always been ‘safety’, and they are First Aid-trained and certified by the Red Cross Society.
The team said it decided late last year that Guyana would be the location for the next hiking adventure.  According to them, they made this decision since they thought it was time to get a first-hand look and feel of Guyana’s hidden glories.
Welcoming the team to Guyana, Director of the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA), Indranauth Haralsingh, assured them that at the end of the four-day trekking activity, they would have come across many different attractions in Guyana which would amuse them, thus making their first visit one with a lasting impression.
“We know that Mr. Frank Singh, the owner of the Rainforest Tours, has a lot of experience in various remote parts of Guyana. You will see the diversity of the attractions that we have here.”
Singh told the team that Guyana’s tourism minister will be in Trinidad to launch a ‘Sail Guyana’ initiative with a yatch company. He said this shows the close collaboration between the two working boards, and the close working relationship between Guyana and Trinidad.
The team said that it is their aim to undertake hiking adventure in every  Caribbean country .
