Defendant cursed, assaulted policeman in outpost
A MAN accused of using indecent language and assaulting a policeman in the mobile Police Outpost at Stabroek, Georgetown, was granted self-bail yesterday. Renwick Allison (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the offences when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
It was alleged that, on April 17, he made use of indecent language and assaulted Police Constable, Quincy Anderson.
Police Sergeant, Denise Booker, prosecuting, said the defendant was under the influence of alcohol when he walked into the police outpost and started cursing.
The prosecutor said an officer warned Allison to desist from that conduct but he continued and, when the rank attempted to arrest him, he became annoyed and pushed him away.
The case will be called, again, on April 30.
