I OFTEN told many Guyanese to wake up and smell the political stench for what it is, that there are only two political parties in Guyana.
One political party is called the PPP and the other political party is the PNC and there is no such thing as a third party calling itself the AFC. Guyanese ought to be reminded that these two individuals who are calling themselves leaders of the AFC, Raphael Trotman and Khemraj Ramjattan, came from the PNC and PPP respectively.
Ramjattan knew about the treatment meted out to Miss Gaumattie Singh and which was about to be played out on him (Ramjattan) leading up to the election for their presidential nominee.
The PNC insiders in AFC were about to throw Ramjattan under the bus but were busted and exposed when some section of the public started to ask about what happened to the leadership rotation system that was agreed to by that party.
The PNC/AFC’s arm did not collate to run for election as one, but in parliament the Guyanese are now witnessing that the PNC (APNU) and AFC are indeed one.
The budget debate will present the picture for all to see that the PNC and AFC are one. For sure, the PNC (APNU) will have to put up a vigorous budget debate and that’s all there will be to it and it will be passed.
PNC (APNU) does not have to satisfy the expectations of those that voted for it because they too, know it was all empty rhetoric.
The easiest thing in the world is to make promises like raising the tax free threshold to $100,000 per month and increasing public sector wages by 20 percent, but the APNU will never tell their gullible voters how they will generate finances to pay for those.
Guyanese will never hear the words “no confidence” in these budget debates.
If elections were to be held today the PNC (APNU) knows it will be crushed, since most Guyanese are seeing the true colours of the PNC with their limited power in parliament.
