MORE businesses are lending support to the 2012 Mackeson GMFA Masters Football Tourney presently under way at the GFC ground where twelve clubs from Georgetown, New Amsterdam, East Coast and Linden are battling for over G$1M in cash and other individual prizes. Sweet Point Hangout on Orange Walk, Becks & Sons Lumber Yard on Norton Street and T&T Dominoes Club were the latest businesses to show support towards the sponsorship of the Masters Football tournament.
Charmaine Luck, proprietress of the Sweet Point business said her support came as a result of the numerous arguments between the Masters players and other patrons and her commitment to the development to sports in whatever little way she could.
Leroy Beckles, manager of Beck & Sons Lumber Yard expressed delight in being able to contribute to this tournament since a number of former national football players will have the opportunity once again to roll back their years on the field before the youths who will be watching to learn and see some of the country’s greats again.
Michael Persaud, captain of the T&T Dominoes Club, in his short address indicated that it’s just an exchange in support to a sister sports discipline and to aid development in the organisation of activities for the players involved.
The tournament will see twelve clubs play in four groups and the top two clubs in each of the four groups will be promoted to the quarter-finals. The latter four in each of the groups will participate in what is called the Plate playoff.
The Masters Football action continues tomorrow and concludes on Saturday with the final and Plate playoff. Admission is $200.
