Digicel support tomorrow’s Guyana Cup Fever horse race meeting Sunday

TELECOMMUNICATIONS giant Digicel (Guyana) Incorporated has once again extended its support to the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Clun in the hosting of that entity’s 2012 Guyana Cup Fever which gallops off tomorrow at the club’s Mocha Arcadia, East Bank Demerara track. The event is sponsored also by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and will see nine races on the day, with over 100 horses registered and jockeys from neighbouring Trinidad and Tobago coming to do battle with their Guyanese counterparts.
Over $10M in cash and prizes will be up for grabs, with Digicel throwing in its lot by sponsoring the I3 and Lower class race.
At a simple handing-over ceremony yesterday, Digicel’s Public Relations Officer Shonnet Moore presented a trophy and indicated that an undisclosed amount of cash has been placed in sponsorship for this event.
She highlighted that her company has been a major sponsor of this event for a number of years and continued to do so, and will be looking forward for the Digicel Classics where a number of top horses and jockeys will participate for cash and other prizes later in the year, even as they remained committed towards the development of sports in Guyana.
Organising Secretary Compton Sancho expressed thanks to Digicel for its commitment and support to the event over the years and look forward to the public’s support in the event, noting that the registration of the large number of horses both local and overseas has been overwhelming and a day of keen and exciting race meeting is expected.
