EON Williams (no address given) was yesterday fined $25,000 or an alternative of two weeks’ imprisonment after he admitted to incurring a debt of $3,000 from Quincy Parris on March 25. Williams told Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry’s court that he had come from Bartica and had taken a taxi that Parris was working to go to his friend’s home on the East Coast Demerara. When he arrived there, his friend was not at home and Parris began to beat him.
He also claimed that he was in possession of a quantity of raw gold, but could not find it when he was taken to the police station, and that he never saw the virtual complainant again.
