SEVENTEEN women have graduated from a cooking course held at the Johanna Cecilia Learning Resource Centre, and are now equipped to create employment for themselves. Chairman of the centre, Doodnauth Singh, said the graduation exercise is the first for the year. He thanked the participants for attending the course and encouraged more women and men to register for other upcoming courses.
Mrs Parbittie Singh, who conducted the course , said the students were taught to prepare and cook Indian sweetmeats and snacks, including gulaab jamoon, mettai, roti, barfi, fudge, faluda, doori, rekouch, kachowri, bigani, vege nuggets, vege rolls and samosa.
Sales representative of Edward B. Harry and Company, Beesham Seepersaud, presented each graduate with a Champion apron and matching shopping bag, on behalf of the company.
Another course will begin on March 31.
